Project Progress - The Great Hall

Works to 'The Great Hall' at Kent College, Canterbury are progressing well.

Scaffolds have now been erected as the brick work progresses ahead of roof works, A Birdcage scaffold has also been erected in the main area to allow for the main roof works to commence.

The joisting to the flat roofs is now complete and the VCL installed to provide weathering to the 2-storey part of the building.Fire protection to the steel beams has commenced on the ground floor which has allowed for the erection of the partitions and the first fix electrical (lightening protection and conduits) with the first fix internal due to start at the end of February.

The ground floor plant room has been made secure for wall finishes and M&E installations with first fix mechanical started throughout the building.

The future progress of the building includes the construction of the structure of the lift shaft and decking and weathering to the main pitched roof. The casting of the decorative stone is now complete with the first band course installed.

Our works at Kent College, Canterbury is for the construction of a new performing arts building consisting of an auditorium with retractable seating for the capacity of 300 in theatre mode and 600 in assembly mode.

The project is being delivered on a challenging site in a ‘live’ school environment, where disruption must be kept to a minimum. Our team has worked hard to overcome this challenge through constant communication and liaison with the college.

The new building, will provide a facility for the whole school at Kent College Canterbury to gather as one community for a variety of purposes, such as assemblies, worship, drama and musical performances.
